Michael Stein
Meet our wealth expert
Michael leads a global team of investment professionals focused on the origination, diligence, structuring, and oversight of hedge fund opportunities for Citi clients. He rejoined Citi in 2018 to oversee our customized hedge fund portfolios and fund of funds on the alternative investments platform.
Michael’s prior experience at Citi included as a Senior Portfolio Manager in charge of hedge fund portfolio management, and as a senior member of the Hedge Fund Research team, where he held the roles of Head of Investment Due Diligence as well as Strategy Head of Relative Value, Multi-Strategy, and Fund of Funds.
Prior to Citi, Michael was Head of Business Strategy at Field Street Capital Management. Earlier in his career, he held senior research and portfolio management roles at UBP and Battersby Capital. He began his career at D.E. Shaw & Co in 2002. Michael holds a bachelor’s in business administration from Georgetown University majoring in finance.
Daniel G. O’Donnell

Dan leads a team of professionals in Boston, New York, London and Hong Kong dedicated to identifying key themes across alternative asset classes, and originating opportunities for clients.
Prior to joining Citi, Dan worked for Bank of America’s alternative investment group, focusing on private equity and real estate origination and investment management. Dan also has experience working on all aspects of the underwriting and monitoring process for a wide range of buyout, venture capital, and real estate investments during his career in Bank of America’s principal investing division
Dan holds a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Michael Yannell

Michael is responsible for a team of investment professionals focused on origination, diligence, structuring and oversight of hedge fund opportunities for Citi Global Wealth Investments’ clients.
Prior to rejoining Citi in 2019, Michael was Head of Research and Co-Portfolio Manager at Gapstow Capital Partners. During his initial tenure at Citi, he served on the Hedge Fund Research and Management Team, and as Strategy Head, responsible for credit- and event-driven strategies.
Previously, he was involved in both portfolio management and research at UBP Asset Management. Michael began his career at State Street Corporation as an accountant.
He holds a bachelor’s in finance from Rutgers, New Jersey, as well as a CFA charter.
