Understanding modern biotechnology is no longer just a good idea, but a survival skill. The shape of the world during and after the COVID-19 era will be forever changed by the tools digital biology can provide. We'll talk about breakthroughs in testing and therapeutics, but also changing strategies for families, companies, and regions moving forward. And we'll look at the wider, brighter future we're creating for medicine, agriculture, and manufacturing, and best practices for investing and critically evaluating opportunities.
Raymond McCauley is a scientist, engineer, and entrepreneur working at the forefront of biotechnology. Raymond explores how applying technology to life -- biology, genetics, medicine, agriculture -- is affecting every one of us. Raymond is Chair of Digital Biology at Singularity University, a Silicon Valley think tank devoted to training leaders about exponential technologies. He is also Cofounder and Chief Architect for BioCurious, the hackerspace for biotech, a not-for-profit where professional scientists, DIYbio hobbyists and entrepreneurs come together to design the next big thing to come out of a Silicon Valley garage. In addition Raymond is part of the team that developed next generation DNA sequencing at Illumina, where he worked in bioinformatics, cancer sequencing, and personal genomics.
