Citi Private Bank is proud to bring you the second in our series of concert segments that showcase Carnegie Hall’s national youth ensembles. Each summer, the Hall’s Weill Music Institute brings together the brightest young musicians from across the country to form the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), NYO2, and NYO Jazz. These remarkable teenagers undergo a comprehensive audition process to take part in a multi-week training residency with leading professional orchestra and jazz musicians. This week’s episode features NYO2, which focuses on recruiting musicians from communities underrepresented in classical music.
GIMÉNEZ Intermezzo from La boda de Luis Alonso
Whirling flamenco rhythms and spectacular orchestral colors make Giménez’s Intermezzo from La boda de Luis Alonso (The Wedding of Luis Alonso) a showstopper. Lively percussion and effervescent wind, brass, and string writing propel the thrilling piece to its exuberant finale.
Please enjoy the results of their work.
