Over the last few weeks, we have been very pleased to bring you this series of interludes in partnership with the world-class Philharmonia. We hope they have brought you some well-deserved moments of serenity and enjoyment, away from the difficult realities of life amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The final piece in this series is beautiful in its simplicity. The beginning of Haydn’s 6th Symphony, “Le Matin” describes a sunrise in music, and then the action of the day begins. It is full of positive energy and celebrates everything that is good and sweet in life.
Michael Fuller, Interim Managing Director of the Philharmonia, says: “It has been such a privilege to share these short selections with all of you, and we look forward to the days when we can play full concerts again at our home at the Royal Festival Hall in London and around the world on tour. For us at the Philharmonia, this is what’s good in life and we miss it tremendously. Citi has been an amazing partner in helping us bring this music to life across the globe and we hope to see you at one of our concerts in the future. We hope that future is not too far off. Stay well and see you soon.”
