A very warm thank-you indeed to all of you have written to us in response to our series of musical interludes over recent weeks. While last week’s performance was meant to be the last, we have decided to give you an encore in recognition of your warm virtual applause. In partnership with the world-class Philharmonia Orchestra, we are delighted to bring you the first movement of Rachmaninov’s First Symphony.
Michael Fuller, the Philharmonia’s Interim Managing Director, writes:
“I hope you have enjoyed our performances over these past weeks, and I wanted to say a huge thank you to Citi for making this all possible. We look forward to welcoming you back to one of our live concerts before too long, but until that time, we can only connect with you in a digital way.
Next Friday 22 May, we will be broadcasting the full archive performance of Mahler’s Third Symphony on our YouTube channel and we would like to warmly invite you to join us for this “live” stream. More information can be found here. This, along with the wealth of other online content we have, is a way we can keep the magic of great music alive at this time.
We wish you all the best as we navigate this difficult period together. I hope we have brought some joy into your days over the past several weeks, and I’d like to say one final time; please stay safe and keep well."
