Latin American Geometric Abstraction is currently a hot and still undervalued segment of the art market.
Citi Private Bank’s Art Advisory and Finance (AAF) team has released its most recent Art Focus publication, Navigating Latin American Geometrics Abstraction.
In this new report, the AAF team takes a look at Latin American geometric abstraction and provides expectations for this growing sector of the art market. Latin American Geometric Abstraction is currently a hot and still undervalued segment of the art market. Coming of age during the 1930s-1950s and influenced by European abstraction, geometric abstraction attracted artists from major Latin American urban centers ranging from Buenos Aires to São Paulo, Havana to Caracas. Characterized by hard-edged, purely colored shapes, which seem to make little to no reference to the natural world, this style represented a universal language that communicated and embodied a broad world view.
